Introduction: The steering knuckle is one of the key components on an automobile steering axle. It enables stable vehicle operation and responsive steering transmission. Its functions include bearing the front load of the vehicle, supporting and driving the front wheels to pivot around the kingpin to realize steering. When the vehicle is running, it bears variable impact loads, so it is required to possess high strength. Steering knuckles are available in two types: cast iron and aluminum alloy.

Functions: The steering knuckle transmits and bears the front load of the vehicle, supporting and driving the front wheels to rotate around the kingpin for vehicle steering. It withstands fluctuating impact loads during driving, which demands high structural strength. It serves as the mounting fulcrum for shock absorbers, front wheel assemblies, kingpin ball joints, brake calipers and tie rod ball joints. As a core joint component, it reinforces the overall rigidity of the vehicle chassis.

To maintain the stability of a vehicle during straight-line driving, ease of steering, and reduce wear between tires and mechanical components, the steering wheels, steering knuckles, and front axle must maintain specific relative positions with the vehicle frame. This installation with fixed relative positions is known as steering wheel alignment, also referred to as front wheel alignment. Proper front wheel alignment delivers the following effects: enabling stable straight-line travel without vehicle wobble; requiring minimal force on the steering wheel when turning; allowing the steering wheel to automatically return to center after a turn; preventing tire slip against the road surface to lower fuel consumption and extend tire service life. Front wheel alignment consists of four parameters: caster angle, kingpin inclination, camber angle, and toe-in.
